ME

When I was younger ('..so much younger than today' by the Beetles in ‘Help’) I loved the idea of dancing and ballerinas! I never went to dance classes myself as a child as there was no money for that type of ‘extra activities’ - all our focus as a family was taken up with church activities. When left to my own devices though, doing house chores on a Saturday morning in an empty house I would put on a record (you know, one of those black vinyl circular discs you put on a turntable to hear music) and dance around the house to my heart's delight (in between the vacuuming, etc.) with no one watching!

In my teenage years, there was a vogue fashion statement of wearing ballerina slippers with everyday outfits and I loved the idea of that too…. Trying myself, to find my sense of style that would be ‘ME’ - a little out of the ordinary but not too different that I would cause a spectacle! As I was taught to sew very early on (first dress at 11yrs old) when given a few dollars, my sister and I would go to the shops to look thru pattern books and work out the cheapest way to get the design we wanted out of the smallest amount of material – generally a very unique version!

In the bible it says that we are – ‘..each of you is a unique and vital part..’ (of the

body of the Anointed One) 1 Corinthians 12:27 TPT

So how do we find the ‘unique’ in us that our Heavenly Father has put there?

Julia Child quotes – ‘Find something you are passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it’.

As a young adult, I regularly met with a team of young people under the banner of ‘Youth For Christ’, running monthly youth events for hundreds of young people where they would come by the busloads from miles away – all for the purpose of connection and to introduce young people to a life with Jesus Christ! Since the 1990’s I have also been deeply passionate about leading others into a relationship journey with Jesus Christ through the Alpha Course and many other associated programs for individual prayer, families, marriage, and more.

Am I unique because I run these programs, no I don’t think so as there are hundreds and thousands around the world doing the same, but I do believe I am unique for my strain of delivery because God knows ME! He knows every hair on my head (Matthew 10:29-31), He knows every day of my life as it is recorded in His book (Ps 139:16) and He has plans to prosper me (Jeremiah 29:11).

11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to

give you hope and a future. = Jeremiah 29:11 NIV

I can recount numerous occasions over my life when I have been in desperate need of help and He has stepped in, seen the impossible take place, been in the right place at the right time to help others, have had my steps ordered (Ps 37:23) and financially have had my Heavenly Father meet every need (Philippians 4:19).

By ME being passionate about the same things that God is passionate about, continuing to stand strong doing it when adversity slaps us around, and bringing to Him a fragrant life that will be pleasing is a great ‘unique’ I think and so worth the adventure that comes with it.

Come join me, you won’t regret it at all!
