Leaving a Legacy

I am currently two thirds of the way through a weekly program with a group of women where we are reading through two books,
· The Journey by Billy Graham
· Leaving a Legacy by Billy Graham
and discussing amazing possibilities for God to use us in the later season of our lives!
Our conversations have been both raw and hilarious but filled with the love and support of all of us together. I am so loving this weekly catch up and believe that the other ladies are as well! (I hope at the end of our program they will give me permission to share their stories). So, in a way this is probably a PART ONE of a blog!
Although we are not yet finished, I just want to share some thoughts that I have been processing to date…

Week One – Open door
For many of us, struggling to assist our grown-up children in the best way has highlighted the need to keep the ‘door open’ with communication and His (our Heavenly Father’s) ‘Agape’ Love.
Week Two – What has God put in my hands for this season?
And the need for PRAYER in the process

Week Three – all that glitters is not gold!
It is God who supplies us with all we need and increases our influence with others, and we should never assume that we have done it all in our own strength!
‘He gives strength to (you) and increases the power of (you). Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but (you) whose hope is in the Lord will renew (your) strength. (You) will soar on wings like eagles; (You) will run and not grow weary; (You) will walk and not be faint’ – Isaiah 40:29-31 NIV

Week four – Fear of the unknown
Sharing with those about our fears and being vulnerable has highlighted to me more and more our need of being united and doing things in community for one another. In Proverbs 6:6 it says to ‘take a lesson from the ants…’
Ants – watch the fittest season – they provide against famine
Ants – always assist one another and unite together when too heavy
Matthew 28:20 – ‘..I am with you always to the very end of the age..’
Whatever we are to face, we are assured that our heavenly father is with us to the end so we should never allow those things that trouble us to be a problem.

I imagine when I am talking to the Lord about my problems, that He is up there in Heaven looking down at me laughing, (not at me but with me) saying ‘Your enemies said what?’
It just puts into perspective that He is certainly greater than anything that is happening around me and if I have the faith of the Apostle Peter, to step out on the waters – I know my Heavenly Father will be there to hold my hand!
God is so good and I desire to continue my legacy well with Jesus at the helm of my Life!
Watch this space for PART TWO!
