Brought to a FOCUS

I saw the attached quote on social media by Alexander Graham Bell and was rather taken with the word ‘focus’!

I know that where I live in the world (Australia) – all we have to do is just step out in the daylight and we are considered to get burnt! The sun’s rays being focused are obviously stronger here, but Mr. Bell’s quote does conjure up an image of a little boy with a magnifying glass trying to burn holes in things, just to see them combust! Don’t you think?

A scripture that resonates with the idea of being focused is…

‘Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.’Philippians 4:8 MSG

To be focused on and have a passion for ‘something’ I guess should then ignite us to excel in the area required of us!

Artists – to produce amazing artwork.

Chefs – to create the best meal.

Writer – to produce a most articulate read

One of my daughters works with pottery and I am in awe of her ability to produce smooth and flawless pieces with her hands. When I have watched her work on a wheel with clay it amazes me the agility, she has to bring the clay together in her hands, with the plan of what is in her head. I must admit I have tried to work clay on a wheel, and I certainly don’t have the same knack for it! God is just as focused as that, like the potter to the clay, on us and our lives if we allow Him.

Bringing our thoughts captive to concentrate and focus on all that God wants for us (like He is on us) is as simple as explained here by John Bevere - https://www.tiktok.com/@johnbevere/video/7146584575827856683

If we reverence God and focus only on Him, then we will be in a place of intimacy with our Heavenly Father, to hear from his heart what is uniquely set out for us to experience each day – just as Adam & Eve did in the Garden of Eden back in the beginning.

Imagine enjoying each day in the fullness (walking on cloud nine experience) of time spent in His presence and knowing you are stepping out to make a difference in the world with Him (your heavenly father) right by your side – your perpetual life coach, with you in all you do!

How brilliant! Not only will it set us on the right course for the rest of our day, but we get to experience our own personal ‘mentor download’ from the author Himself. Can I encourage you today to start ‘Hallowing’ – greatly revere, praise, adore, honour your Father in Heaven and be expectant for Him to come close so that together you can focus on where your next step is for this season.

Our Father which art in heaven,

Hallowed be thy name.

Thy kingdom come,

Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil:

For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.

Amen.

Matt 6:9-13 KJV
