Don't lose hope

Today, while in my ‘time capsule’ of convalescing, I was watching ‘online church’ (very difficult leaving house at the moment on crutches) and the minister titled his sermon, ‘Lion & the Lamb’!

My ears pricked up at this sermon title as I have heard this same title a number of times over the last few days from book I have read plus other ministry on TV too so felt – OK lord what are you wanting me to take from this?

What already stands out, is the two animals (the Lion & Lamb) are a real contrast in types so…..

Later today while watching ‘Aquaman’ the movie – the scene where Aquaman and the princess are attached on board a boat by the most horrid of creatures, both dive into the ocean, to a trench in the depths of the sea!

As I am very much a visual person, what I see around me in the physical, speaks to my heart spiritually, so of course it caught my attention!

In the world today we are currently in a season where we are seeing more and more how the ‘enemy of our souls’ are doing their darndest to swarm around us and not allow any breathing space for us to shine our light. We feel stifled, smothered by restrictions and people around us seem to be agitated by the simplest comments that would normally not offend but today… they do! We are seeing it on the news and on our social media every day, situations that seem unbelievable.

BUT for us who God has called, He assures us “don’t lose HOPE, don’t ever give up…” Jer 51:46 because He is right there with us (like the glowing flame/torch in above picture). In 2 Timothy 1:7 it says “God did not give you a spirt of timidity but a spirit of power of Love and of self-discipline”.

If like the torch above, we can shine God into every situation we find ourselves, what a CONTRAST we can bring to circumstances every day for Him to be evident, like us praying for people in need, like us stepping up and cooking a meal for someone, like us paying for the coffee for the one coming up behind us in line… If we are willing, our heavenly Father will give us the prompting to put these simple ‘SHINE’ moments into practice! And boy the world so needs it now more than ever!

We as Christians are called to be different and should be showing it in a very real way so that those around us can tell the ‘CONTRAST’ right away! I believe our time is coming close to when Jesus Christ will return for us and it would be heart breaking for any of our family, friends and loved ones to not be joining us when that time comes.

“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner and I ask for your forgiveness. I believe you died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite you to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow you as my Lord and Saviour. Amen”
