Following the Cross

The road ahead is there but when curve balls get thrown at you, we need to keep focused on the Cross and on Jesus to get us to where we are going!

The way ahead may seem simple enough but there may be a hidden dip beyond the horizon or a pothole that we can’t see from here…. Either way we still need to keep our eyes on Him.

My current goal is to get my feet planted into and thru the door of my new accommodation and feel like I can ‘nest’ – do my home maker thing and feel comfortable again as I have been out of my comfort zone for more than 5 months.

My heart so desires to be able to ‘spread my wings’ and feel like me again!

But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. – Isaiah 40:31 TLB

I am believing that the Lord has good in store for my hubby and I but it’s the getting there that is giving me the ‘heebie-jeebies’ (feeling of extreme nervousness or unease) now.

I am comforted by the fact that I know He (the Lord) wants us there on the date we move, which is in a weeks’ time - because when purchase went through, (settlement took place while we were traveling overseas earlier in the year) we were told we could not move in till mid-September.  But through answered prayer we have been given the honour of moving in two months earlier! Praise the Lord!

This is again a reflection of us keeping our eyes on the one who directs our path and when we are prepared to step out in faith to believe Him…

In all your ways know and acknowledge and recognize Him, And He will make your paths straight and smooth [removing obstacles that block your way]. – Proverbs 3:6 AMP

I understand, the older I get on how much nicer it is to walk on a flat level pathway.  If there are stairs in the way I usually go via an escalator or a lift.  Basically, I will take the easier route rather than have to struggle with my knees and legs giving me cause to complain.

While away overseas earlier in the year, my hubby booked us many different types of accommodation to stay in and all for different reasons – be it cost, ambiance, location and many more.  But what really did my head in was those that were up flights of stairs!

One gorgeous place in France was just a dream for the location, the ambiance, the hostess (amazing) and it had a pool! (my most favourite thing to do is swim).  BUT the access was on the outside of one end of their ‘giet’ (B&B) and it was lots of ‘stairs’. 

Each day we returned from our outing to amazing ‘chateau’s’, I then had to climb these stairs to be able to have a hot shower or lay down.  And each morning I wanted to eat breakfast I had to get dressed and walk down the stairs to get my coffee!  So, there was always a degree of discomfort to be tolerated in being able to enjoy what was available to me.

Another time in France we stayed in a place with stairs as it was closer to a tourist attraction we intended on visiting.  This time it was the tourist attraction ‘Mount Saint Michel’ that was the killer!  I struggled to get to the Monastery at the top and by lunch time I was over the walking!  By the next day my body ‘seized’ up from it all!

In any way we travel, either by foot, or transport we should be mindful that God offers us protection for the journey.

Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go. – Joshua 1:9

I am typing this while sitting in yet another ‘air B&B’ while all my household items are stored in a container (somewhere) until I receive the keys for where God has us purposed to go forward with Him.

I am keeping my eyes firmly fixed on Him and doing my best not to search for dips in the road or any potholes but believing for Gods good for us up ahead.

What keeps me spurred on is something I recently read….

‘… this will be a season of unusual obedience. God is going to ask people to do things that will not make sense to those around them… opportunities will come that cannot be explained naturally. God is looking for people he can trust with unusual assignments… some of you will be asked to leave what is familiar, step into what feels impossible and obey before you understand…

So, yes, I choose to be ‘obedient’ and God is most certainly asking us to do something that does not make sense to those around us and yes, I am leaving what is familiar to do what seems impossible BUT God is with us and I know ‘HE HOLDS MY FUTURE’ – Amen!

For I know the plans and thoughts that I have for you,’ says the Lord, ‘plans for peace and well-being and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. – Jeremiah 29:11
