The Right Fit

2/8/26
I have now stepped into the eighth month for this year and back in March in a previous blog I shared the following…
Hebrew meaning of Eight = Shemoni, literally to ‘make fat’, new beginnings, ‘fat’ is having more than enough, full to overflowing, moves from natural to supernatural, alluding to greater authority, accountability & holiness (set apartness)
So, I am now here in the month of ‘Shemoni’ and although it has been quite an up and down road to get here, I am believing for all that, that word means and has to bring to pass – not only for myself and hubby but for where we are situated, right now!
We have spent the last few weeks doing our best to cultivate our surroundings to be the best type of home for us (still need to tweak a few more things) but one item we are both keen to make happen is to place a very large sticker of scripture up on our family room wall so that all who enter in will know why we are here.
“Seek the Peace and prosperity of the city to which I have carried you into… Pray to the Lord for it, because if it prospers, you too will prosper” – Jeremiah 29:7
Our hearts desire, moving forward is to see all those around us and in our sphere of influence, touched by knowing Jesus personally.

Each month I choose a theme to work with in my daily journaling and some time back I had selected lamp shades for this month. Not sure what my thinking was but clearly the Lord did. When processing the idea, I was drawn towards the ornate type of Tiffany lamp shades with the colourful glass and patterns. They are very exclusive and expensive (much like I think I would like to be – unique, elegant) but since then, due to us having to replace some lights in our new home I have come to understand a little more of the selection process needed to hang a light!
When we purchased our home there was a very ornate light fixture hanging above our kitchen bench that (to me) is like a disco ball… it changes colour from blue, green, purple etc and it’s not really me…
So, then the conversations that have since gone one in trying to find another replacement that both myself and hubby approve of has been huge. Not only do you have to consider the colour, the length it hangs, the size and a whole lot more. Also finding out how much an electrician charges to install is astronomical!
We finally agreed on something (unique but simple) but there was no store so had to order online. Once the delivery was received – Oh my goodness! We totally got the size wrong! They were huge (and I had ordered 3). My unique and simple had now become abominably over the top and outrageous, certainly NOT THE RIGHT FIT! So, the dilemma went on again with do we just hang one, hang two or send all three back or???
*******
I would like to take a step back for just a moment here and share with you how much the process of ‘The Right Fit’ has been part of my every day for the last three weeks.
· Am I the RIGHT FIT for this new home I live in?
· Is where I am putting all my bits and bobs the RIGHT FIT for me?
· How can I now make myself the RIGHT FIT for the very different culture I am feeling I am now part of?
· Where do I go find the RIGHT FIT item to replace what is not working for us here?
It is probably the last one that our light fitting dilemma falls into. And so, we have come to the decision to return our purchases and go look for new ones to replace what irks!
I think in any area of our lives we all have items, situations that we find uncomfortable, and we are daily having to make choices to get past those ‘irks’ I guess. What I am discovering is after doing my life for the past 20 odd years in one way has been totally turned upside down so ‘the right fit’ now for me is proving a challenge and I want to get past it to start feeling comfortable again.
20 But [we are different, because] our citizenship is in heaven. And from there we eagerly await [the coming of] the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; - Philippians 3:20 AMP
18 “If the world hates you [and it does], know that it has hated Me before it hated you. – John 15:18 AMP
From reading the word, I understand that even Jesus felt uncomfortable in his journey so I should not get complacent or too comfortable where I am at but be ok with where the Lord chooses to use my current situation for His purpose.
I read on my social media today that…
‘This is a month of deeper intimacy and divine alignment’
God is revealing what is rooted in Him & what was built outside of Him
‘Let both grow together until the harvest’ Matt 13:30
God is building your dependence on Him
God is building something in You – make room for Him
So back to what the number eight means for me this month…
· It is most certainly a new beginning for us
· In the first weeks of moving in we were blessed with a very large financial gift from friends – more than enough
· I am trying to be positive and praying daily for an attitude of full to overflowing
· In the natural I feel my age and am struggling with it all BUT I know God can do the supernatural and turn all things for His good, (Rom 8:28) I am believing for that - natural to supernatural
· My hubby has been operating at a higher level in his workspace while we have been transitioning - alluding to greater authority
· This is something I believe I will have to start knuckling down and being real with God about - accountability & holiness
· I believe that this can only come from the Lord – so in His time will be perfect - (set apartness)
Prayer:
Heavenly Father,
I desire to be living my life in a manner that is worthy and pleasing to You. Search my heart I pray and forgive me for any sin, that I may have clean hands and a pure heart before you. Purify my heart, cleanse my thoughts and examine the very motives behind my acts and attitudes. If there is anything that is displeasing to You in my life, I ask that you would reveal it to me so I may ask for your forgiveness.
Keep me accountable and teach me to do the same for others. Teach me to be a woman of integrity. Let me take responsibility for my actions and teach my loved ones to do the same.
Amen.
