Scripture In My Hand

I love to journal and every month I create a new phone cover picture that represents my theme for that month - even my grandkids step in to assist with the process on occasions.

From the picture attached you can see a representation of what the Lord has stirred my heart with each month as I have trusted him during 2025 with each theme and narrative.  It has been a very eye-opening process for some months as I have been stripped back in the natural to depend on Him loving and embracing me.

My phone does not actually live very far from me, even when with my grandkids and we discuss a topic they naturally ask, ‘look it up Gran so we can see a picture’.  With that accessibility it’s no wonder I have it always with me.

There have been other moments when people have asked what it is I have on the back of my phone and when I share the ‘narrative’ of what my creativity has been - then it also gives me an open door to share the gospel on some occasions.

In Exodus 4:2, the Lord says to Moses “what is that in your hand?” – of course we know that he carried a staff in his hand and together with the Lord it created an amazing path of the miraculous for the Children of Israel to get to the promised land.

Again, in Ecclesiastes 9:10 it says “whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might…”

We are living in a season where we have access to a wealth of knowledge at our fingertips and  we need to focus that into allowing the Lord to direct it towards His plan and purpose for each of us and it helping us to produce links for others for the greatest commission of all time “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptising them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit…” Matthew 28:19-20.

Some of my greatest experiences in life have been leading others to Jesus!

So, I think as I move into 2026 I will continue my ‘creativity’ of carrying scripture around on the back of my phone, but I have accepted a challenge by a friend the other day to take it up a notch and try my hand at watercolour painting them each month next year!  YES!  Bring it on!

What's That In Your Hand?

What's that in your hand, a rod or some seed?

Perhaps it's a light for others you'll lead-

Remember the rod was used as a sign,

The seed used to sow to all of mankind!

The light of the world is Jesus we know,

Now given for us to share as we go

Don't let your mind dwell on items of past

What's that in your hand? let it become vast!

For youth it may be a rock and a sling,

To conquer your foes and fulfill your dreams

But then as you age, it may be you find,

You hold in your hand, a new frame of mind!

No matter the time in life it is sure,

For hands that are clean and heart that is pure

He'll always provide, God won't let you down,

Something in your hand can always be found!

So take it each day and share it with those

You pass on the street, with someone God chose

To let you embrace and helping to see,

That in their hands too, God's longing to be!
