Take Me Back

Take me back to where it all started…. A song sung by ‘Kingdomcity Church’, at this moment resonates within me….

‘Take me back to where it all started

Feel like you’re going around in circles, then go back to where it all started... with him, Jesus!

When I was a very small child my closest cousin’s home was only a short few minutes’ drive from our house and we loved to go visit as they had many cool aspects of fun things to do at their home.  A laundry chute was one that we totally enjoyed falling through!   Another was a rocking horse that my uncle had built that sat in my cousin’s bedroom and I loved to ride.

In May 2025 I returned back to visit family relatives for a special occasion, and I was invited to stay with my cousin, and she had that same restored rocking horse from years ago sitting in her lounge room.  I was blown away on how small it was because when I was a child it seemed huge.  My cousin kindly reminded me on how small I was back then at that time.

When we are confronted with the memories from the past, either good or bad we are challenged on helping our mind understand what is real or fiction in some cases.  Seeing that rocking horse, I needed to comprehend that I was actually small enough to ride it at one time but then also recalibrating the memory in my head of lifting my leg up and over it to hop on and ride it… it was so tall at the time!

Over the years I have travelled to many parts of Europe and when moving through different towns of France we have stopped in many country squares to find carousels there for kids to enjoy!

Just like what is made available for us to enjoy at one time, we need to understand that those things were once ‘under construction’ with a completion date unknown!  Once finished though, many over hundreds of years have been able to enjoy and take in the pleasure of their function and more.

Much the same for us! Back when I was only very little, I enjoyed the rocking horse for a time, but God was still constructing me as it were, and I have over the years become bigger and able to do different things that I was unable to do back then.  Also, from the explanation of how carousels came to be, they were originally designed for a different function in mind and then evolved!

God can certainly change us along the way in the journey, and I can totally testify to that as I have first hand experience of it – God growing me to move me into new directions and doorways.

1979 – trained at TAFE for Secretarial Diploma

1985 – trained with Drake International for casual employment

1996 – retrained to use computer for casual employment

1999 – trained on new computer documentation and formatting

2011-2015 – trained on new computer upgrades and app functions

2020/21 – trained to publish books online

As with the original song I started with, ‘Take me Back to where it all started’ I have now ‘outgrown’ the original rocking horse I played on back as a small child.  But I know from the following lines in the song, my Heavenly Father is continually sourcing the items I need to keep me trained and in tip top fighting condition for the purpose that lays ahead of me. (like medieval knights using the carousels for training in their day)

I plan to keep Jesus as ‘you and me and no thing in between, you are my first love’ for this year 2026 and see what He has in store for me as he equips, supplies, and strengthens me every day.
